"This is a historic day for our franchise, and for the city of Detroit" Pistons owner Tom Gores told reporters,"We're moving to a beautiful new arena that will provide a state-of-the-art fan experience, and we're investing in the future of Detroit"
The Pistons have been playing in the suburban neighborhood of Auburn Hills since 1988, and have not played in Detroit since 1985. As part of the deal, Palace Sports and Entertainment and Illitch holdings will be merged to form a new entertainment venture, while the teams themselves, will remain separate. The Pistons also plan on constructing a new practice facility as well as investing 2.5 Million dollars in renovating and refurbishing basketball courts throughout Detroit, and to host basketball clinics and camps for the cities youth, and provide them with free tickets to see the Pistons.
This is a developing story. Keep it here for more updates. Until then, Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Happy and Safe Holiday Weekend.
