Las Vegas - At 4:00 PM ET, Knicks Owner James Dolan decided not to match the Houston Rockets offer sheet for Jeremy Lin thus making him a Houston Rocket. This according to the New York Times and ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. The Knicks had until 11:59 PM this evening (Eastern Daylight Time) to match. The Decision was made because of a third year balloon payment of 14.9 Million dollars in his contract which would cost the team another 35 million in luxury-tax penalties IF they did decide to match it (Although the Knicks could of traded him before the third year). The Knicks had acquired former PG Raymond Felton from the Trailblazers as well as signing Jason Kidd to a three year deal although some sites say that he signed hoping to mentor Jeremy Lin. Lin was an un-drafted Harvard University basketball player who played with Golden State and Dallas before joining the Knicks. On February 4, 2012, Jeremy Lin was on the verge of being cut but because of Toney Douglas' drained confidence, Lin was put into the game and ending up scoring 25 points. he would end up being more than just a one hit wonder from scoring 38 points against Kobe Bryant against the LA Lakers to making Knicks fans believe in the team. As a result, the stock price of MSG skyrocketed and Lin became an international sensation. However with the return of Carmelo Anthony, he quickly became just another player feeding the ball to Melo. Mike D'Antoni resigned on March 14th and Assistant coach Mike Woodson took over. the Knicks quickly got off their feet winning 18 of their next 24 games as well as their first playoff game in 11 years before being eliminated by the Now-NBA Champions, Miami Heat.
